It is with great sadness we say goodbye to friend and fellow bowler Vic Aird who passed away on Saturday 28th May of a heart attack

Vic was a very popular and loyal member of Wing Bowls Club. He loved to chat about anything and everything. He would play in matches whenever he could and act as reserve when needed, and despite a few set-backs due to health problems he had become a very good bowler. He was also very good at indoor bowls. He will be greatly missed by all of us who knew him and our condolences will be passed on to Mrs Aird and family on behalf of the members of Wing Bowls Club.

Tuesday 12th July

On Tuesday 12 July we have visitors coming to the club from the Football Club, Tennis Club, Sports & Social Club and the PC. There will be 12 in total coming to try bowling and we would like to give them a good evening.

We will need as many Club Members as possible to support give guidance and play so if you are able to come down it would be very much appreciated. It would be a good idea if you could come in greys and club shirts so you are easily identifiable as a club member.

The bar will be open and we would like to offer tea and biscuits or cake (if we have any cake making volunteers)

We will leave a couple of rinks free for those who do not want to join in

We will start at 6 sharp so if you are able to get down to the club a bit before, we can lay up the rinks ready and do any other prep required.

Australian Bowls Afternoon

There now is an Australian Bowls afternoon on Thursdays. Please arrive at by 2pm to get teams sorted game should last about 2hrs. All welcome.

We still need a Club Secretary

After years of sterling work for the club Geoff has decided to retire as his  role as secretary, this means that we need another person for this position. If anyone would like to put their name forward the club would be grateful as without a secretary we will have no club as it cannot run without one.

So please consider.

Well done to all winners and runners up on the weekend of finals who played in blistering heat. Congratulations to Peter Haines and Gail Trew who were crowned Men and Ladies club champions after winning their 4 Woods competitions

The highlight of our season was winning back the Spooner Trophy where it belongs at Wing Bowls Club after a good win against Winslow and Cheddington well done to all who took part
